  Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce

The chamber

History

Picture
"The mission of the Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce is to build strong partnerships within its business community in order to advance the principals of free enterprise and to enhance the quality of life in Upper Bucks County."

We are guided in this mission by the values of:
Integrity, Courage, Grace, Leadership, Diligence, Respect and Openness....

The Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce was originally founded by a small group of businessmen headed by Woodrow Wehrung in November of 1954 as the Quakertown Chamber of Commerce. It was eventually renamed to include all of Upper Bucks County and was incorporated as a non‐profit (501c6) corporation with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on March 25, 1976, having established a membership of 750 businesses with the purpose to promote the Upper Bucks area commercially, industrially and professionally; to advance the welfare of the communities served; to create a closer cooperation among the members for the benefit of all concerned.

The UBCC had been housed by Col. William Holt in his business located on Route 309 in Quakertown for many years and then moved to Broad Street, Quakertown in a bank building located in the downtown shopping center. The Chamber office was then adopted by the Quakertown National Bank and housed at their town centre facility at 320 W. Broad Street. In September of 2001, the UBCC officially moved into their own rented space at 2170 Portzer Road in Milford Township. During the summer of 2012 the Chamber, in partnership with the Borough of Quakertown and the Quakertown Historical Society, renovated the old Marketplace Barn located at 21 N. Main Street in Historic Uptown Quakertown. A full-service Visitor Center, housing the Chamber's offices and a small museum, was established and opened to the public in September of 2012.

The UBCC established a 501c3 non‐profit foundation in June of 2002, known as the Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Led by a Board of Directors appointed each year by the Chamber Board, the Foundation is organized exclusively for the purpose of carrying out and supporting the charitable and educational purposes of the Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce.

The Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce currently enjoys a collaborative and friendly relationship with our neighboring chambers; Upper Perkiomen Valley, Indian Valley, Central and Lower Bucks and the Greater Lehigh Valley and Greater Philadelphia Chambers of Commerce.
